Usable freq.range of LAB12

Is it possible to use Eminence Lab12 up to 200Hz?
IF yes: are there any cons like higher distortion ....
If no: What is the maximum usable crossover point? Is there any other 12 inch pro speaker usable for HIFI for range 25-200Hz? (Maybe Beyma 12LX60V2 or others)

I'm not sure, without the experience, that it can work because of roll off and not because of beaming or distortion.
I would say, from a theoretic point of view, that it would work to 150/200Hz but I'm not comfortable with that.

It has a very large'dust cap' and that isn't good for higher frequencies. Might need a steep LPF roll off to avoid any hf artifacts. I have one but have not yet tested it. I have a Perless XLS 12 inch driver. It isn't good at 200Hz. That has a smaller dust cap. I feel the larger dust caps can trap sound within and cause odd effects. !00 Hz is OK.
 
The Lab 12, newer Peerless XXLS and Scanspeak Discovery 12" woofers should all be fine to 200 Hz. I have tested the XXLS 10" woofer (835016) and found it sounded clean to at least 300 Hz, and surprisingly good even at 500-600 Hz. The key spec is inductance (Le) and closer to 1 or 1.2 will mean low distortion to at least a few hundred Hz. When Le rises to 3-4 or higher, that's a woofer that needs to keep under 100 Hz--or better yet, replace it with a better woofer.

I think 200 Hz would be OK for the Lab12, and distortion would be low in the upper range, probably less than 4% THD.
I have not tested that high, but here are the results for lower frequencies, outdoor tests using sine waves at 800 watts (49 volts into 3 ohms) at one meter.
The calibration was probably 3 dB low.
30 Hz 110 dB 9% distortion
35 Hz 114 dB 6%
40 Hz 117 dB 3%
45 Hz 121 dB 3%
50 Hz 122 dB 10%
60 Hz 117 dB 13%
70 Hz 119 dB 3%
80 Hz 117 dB 3%
100 Hz 117 dB 4%

The peak and dip in the response curve around 315 Hz of the white curve is a port resonance.

The purple chart shows the same 2x12" enclosure with the ports sealed, other than a little glitch around 360 Hz, response is smooth to 630 Hz.

I would say the Lab12 sounds good up to a 300 Hz crossover, but port resonance could be a problem using it that high depending on tuning.

Have you compared this numbers to other 12 inch woofers?
What do you think about the comment, that the big Dust cap causes resonances and becoause of it the speaker is usable only inrange as it is declared in the datasheet(up to 125Hz)?
I have heard that a Beyma 12LX60V2 in 90-100l box tuned to 30Hz and then corrected with active crossover is better choice! Any comments?

I have not heard the Beyma.

The Lab 12 was originally designed for use in the LabSub, a large folded horn designed by Tom Danley for PA use that had a range of roughly 25-125 Hz, the spec sheet probably reflects it's origin.

The large dust cap causes no resonances I can hear, if it did, they would show up on the frequency response graph.

That said, other than some casual listening, I generally cross the Lab 12s no higher than 150 Hz.
 
Here is a Lab 12 speaker in a tuned length enclosure driven at 29.1 V. (~200W)
The stuff between 30 and 40 Hz is the room.
The dip at ~ 200 Hz is, who knows.
But I would say the speaker can go up close to 200 HZ, although I prefer to cross it over at 70 or 80 Hz as a Subwoofer.

They are potent speakers and this one regularly makes things fall of shelves and pictures fall down in my (concrete) house.

This by the way is done with a calibrated microphone at 1 Meter and REW software.

What do you think about enclosed simulation? Which one will fit better the 6nd430? The Beyma will be corrected in miniDSP.
Which one will be better for midrange W22 or 6nd? Maybe W22 will fit better the LAB12 on lower crossover freq. for LAB12 I should put 6nd430 in vented box.

Few days ago I have compared 12lx60v2 in 80l box tuned to 30Hz and 15p1000fe in 150l box tuned to 30Hz. Compared to the lab12 they had subjectively less and not as deep bass as lab12 howevermore precise. Maybe it was not correct baffle step compensation. Noth of them were crossed at 250Hz. The 15 inch woofer has Le=2. It is jigher than Lab12 has, and it is used up to 250Hz. Is it ok? The owner said that the woofer has les tha 1%THD up to this range. It is much more less than LAB12 measurements. Can it be true?

What was the crossover slope used?
Did you try listening to the woofers alone, or with a top cabinet?

At usual home listening levels, the Lab 12 has less than 1% distortion, distortion probably is not an issue.

I don't understand either of your questions, is what OK, can what be true?
 
I have no problem with lab12 at home just some people recommended to use beyma 12lx60 instead and cross it about 250Hz. For lab12 the recommended crossover point is below 100Hz. Maybe the lab12 will not have as much reserve to start distort as 12lx60 or 15p1000fe.
With lab12 I should use 8inch midbass crossed about 120Hz and with the beyma woofers i can use a 6,5inch midrange crossed at 250Hz.
