Default removing varnish insulation

What is the best way to remove the varnish from my Solen hepta-litz inductors prior to soldering? Is it just scratching it off each wire by hand, or is there a solvent that will work?

I use Scotch-Brite™ General Purpose Hand Pad. You can find it at supermarkets and home centers. It's made of nylon, so it does not leave conductive residues.

i burn the enamel off enameled wire with a flame, it may work for this...
If it aint broke, don't fix it. If it is broke, fix it.
If you can't fix it, take it apart and see how it "worked".
