Foster 025N03 Cast Aluminum Horn Tweeter 3" x 7-1/4"

I wonder if anyone has used these Foster horn tweeters in a project. They were so cheap I could not resist myself, and would be keen to know if someone has put these in a project, or can suggest some other drivers that might compliment go well for an inexpensive tube amp speaker project build.

That is Fosers OEM copy of the original Jensen horn. A number of US makers all had copies. I might have some impedance curves for those. I might even have a couple -- i likely have some of the horns off dead ones.

They'll need some damping on the horn, and careful XO work.

Back in the 1970's used (and burned up) a lot of those buggers. They only cost about $10 then IIRC, and were more robust (and louder) than an EV ST-350. Wish I knew then that they could be re-diaphragmed, we just threw them away like used tissues.

As Planet 10 says, crossover design will be important, though we were just using a simple capacitor, and ran 12" speakers full range below, close enough for rock and roll.
Later, used them with an EV 12M, using 12 dB per octave crossovers on both, they hung in there for stage monitor use, sounded decent.

The 18K spec is probably at least 10dB down (on axis) from the 3500 Hz response, padding them back and using a high bypass capacitor you could get some sparkle from them.

I have been looking at them too but can't figure what to do with them yet. I was thinking to put them into a box with a 12" like mentioned above for an innexpensive party speaker (but the 12" drivers i would consider are expensive) or maybe pair them with a hi eff 8" and a helper woofer. Either way, i think they would be cheap fun!
