If one could construct a cabinet where the mouth of the horn could be adjusted in size, and also the size of the throat/compression-chamber, would that be a good thing? Or would it make little or no difference (or potentially ruin things), if the lengh or the horn could not also be changed accordingly?
What would it do to the sound? Sorry, my horn design knowledge is low.

Just dreaming of an interesting (and complicated) cabinet design.

Not quite sure how you'd actually do it as there are several parameters that interrelate. For example if you start with a throat of a cetain size, and then change it, you'll at least have to adjust the flare rate.

I'd suggest you go to Erik's downloads page and download the articles by Dr Bruce Edgar on horn design, study them some, then come back with more questions. IMO, a specific example / application makes it easier to discuss.
