hi guys

i have this boston pro acoustic 6.53 car speaker that i want to convert to monitor speaker

can someone help me simulate the enclosure need to mount this woofer? i do not mind if the tweeter is mounted on top of the box. like the B&W

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...roseries+6-1-2-+2-Way+Loudspeaker+System.html

Speaker Size 6-1/2"
Design 2-way Component System
Peak Power Handling 400 watts
RMS Power Handling 200 watts approx.
Sensitivity 90 dB
Frequency Response 50 - 22000 Hz
Impedance (per voice coil) 3 ohms
Top Mount Depth 5"

cant find the woofer parameters. is the above info help?

or an intelligent guess on the enclosure really helps.

thanks in advance

Erwin

Hi,

Size is not critical, the bigger it is the lower the subwoofer setting.

Mount the bass/mid at ~ 0.6 of baffle width and the baffle width
down from the top. Mount the tweeter directly above it. The bass/
mid should alo be around 1.6 x the baffle width up from the floor.
So hieght is ~ 2.6 x width.

There are other ways of doing it, but think about your average
door which is ~ 0.7m x 2m, needs 0.2m chopping off, an ~ 0.6m
door would need 0.5m chopping off, between these is ballpark.

hi Sreten

this is the guideline i need. thx alot

i also read some suggest smaller size buffer width. with guideline that the buffer width is less than 2 times the woofer diameter. claim to improve performance. whats your opinion on this?

"Mount the bass/mid at ~ 0.6 of baffle width" does this mean that the driver is mount off axis right?

Hi,

In open baffles baffle width determines bass extension.
The drivers are not centrally mounted, they are offset.
