4ohm Tweeter & 8 ohm woofer

Hello,

I know this may sound like a simple (stupid) question, however, when using a tweeter of 4 ohm and woofer of 8 ohm, do any of you use the L-Pad configured to bring the tweeter to an 8 ohm resistance? or leave it at 4 ohm?

I have never use an L Pad configuration, never needed to as I have always used (tried to match) same rated resistances drivers. But I can say I would not leave the tweeter as 4 ohm as it will more likely blow up when you but more power into it.

Anther thought if the woofer was say 30 watt rms and the tweeter 60 watt rms then may be that would be OK?

Hi,

The final tweeter resistance should set it to the right level
for the crossover design, usually this means attenuating
the tweeter and increasing impedance is a good idea.

THe L-pad parallel section damps the tweeter and it is
usually a trade-off between impedance and damping.
