If you can make ribbons in a circular shape, then you can mount more than one coaxially. Biggest one goes outside, handles lowest frequencies. Smaller one or two inside for higher frequencies. Weird.
HiVi have two such beasts http://www.swanspeaker.com/drivers/buglelist.asp?type=9, a two-way mid/tweeter and a three-way fullrange http://www.swanspeaker.com/product/htm/view.asp?id=316. From the pictures, the latter appears to have 6 input connectors, so presumably it could be tri-amped.
