They are now about 4 feet from the front wall, and centre of woofers is about 36" from the sidewalls.
They are very very clean through the vocal range.
I'd hoped they would reach down to a subwoofer, but subjectively, that's unnecessary, even for movies.
I'm guessing it's better boundary reinforcement, being so close to the floor, some gain from a 30" vertical cylindrical wave launch, and the 1525e natural 40 hertz or so bass spike.
Cleaner sound by far, than my planar hybrid Van Halens. They had only a 19mm thick baffle, which I now think added lots of stored energy resonances, with each having 3 1525e drivers in it.
I'm very surprised the bass is adequate.

I don't have 18LX60 but have experience with another 18-inch unit 18G40, SM118/N and 18P80/Nd in open baffle operation. They sound excellent though my experience with a DIY speaker is only open baffle. I love their natural sound probably brought by no enclosure(woofer cone doesn't have air pressure). My open baffle isn't inside my listening room but at the border between the next room. This setup forces you to be a carpenter rather than an engineer. But you have the advantage of full usage of potential bass. It's not for a commercial product but for DIY use only because you need to sell both an open baffle and a house.

I use two by channel of Beyma 18LX60V2. With good sound. In OB, I chose them cause its QTC is fine for OB
Good price, high SPL they are flat until 900Hz.
Best Regards

Hi,
In a 50 m2 room. (With many carpets ..). I think that's ok for OB listening. Have the opportunity to move around the OB speakers. Thanks.
