I'm going to build a set of small speakers (MTM with 6.5 inch woofers). I have a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood from a previous project. The plans I have call for the biggest sides to have 2 layers of 3/4 inch material. Would it be OK to use plywood for this?

I would only use plywood that is void free. These include marine plywood, apple ply and baltic birch. I've used 3/4" Baltic Birch for a Tempest project; it has 13 plys and claims to be void free. Adire recommends the baltic birch over mdf.
Plywoods that have voids may have an unwanted buzzing with the cabinet resonancy.
