Are you sure panel resonance goes up by having a bigger panel? Think of Rolf Harris and his wobble board. A bigger board produces a lower frequency when it is flexed.

Perhaps you are referring to the thickness of the panel?
 
Wrong equation

rick57, the equation you posted is incorrect. There is a problem with the brackets. The correct equation is:

f = (pi/2) * sqrt(D/p) * [(1/a^2) + (1/b^2)]

This makes sense and can be found several places in the literature (e.g. James K. Iverson, "The Theory of Loudspeaker Cabinet Resonances", Journal of the Audio Engineering Society, vol. 21, April 1973).

Let me also remind you that mass density is mass per volume, not mass per length.
