Hello!

My name is Andrew, I'm from Russia. I am only 22 years old, but I've made my first tube amp when I was only a high school student nine years ago and since then I have been mad about vacuum-tube amplifiers! I keep a blog on this subject and collect radio tubes. I work as an engineer and design LED lamps. Pleased to meet with the world of audio forum!

Regards, Andrew

Andrew=our new source to find NOS Russian tube (probably) haha

I am living half a mile from Svetlana tube factory and the best source to get SED Winged C ( C is the first letter in Cyrillic word Svetlana) for me is partsconnection :D

Last time I've visited local electronic parts flea market called Unona local guys were charging 10USD for _USED_ 6N23P and one can find them used for free in old B&W TV sets in the garbage.

Chinese tubes like Shuguang seems to be of a very good quality most likely better than JJ or Winged C.

I suppose that though you are right to a certain extent I should mention the fact that there are tubes that are produced only in Russia, e.g. 6C33C. As far as I know, neither China nor other countries produce them.

6C33C is not an audio tube it was designed as a voltage regulator tube.
6G32P is basically EF86 (very good one) cannot comment on 6G38P

Among Russian tubes I must amend GU72 is a very special one it is nice for ham transmitter and audio applications as well. Sockets for GU72 are hard to find however.

Shuguang el84 & el156 both have very good feed back.

Just in case Istok 2 web ''Èñòîê2''. Ðàäèîëàìïû - ïî÷òîé. Ðàäèîëàìïû.
I hope the link might be useful as well Parts ConneXion - The authority on hi-fi DIY parts and components

Regarding GU72 audio amplifier implementation tips you may search audioportal.

In spite of the fact that the tube 6C33C was not originally an audio tube, it is regarded as one of the best tubes in the world for using in SE-amplifiers by many amateur and professional audio engineers. If you would like me to supply this statement with prooflinks to websites created by specialists from different countries where they give specifications and opinions about the 6C33C tube.

Then, I have a rather logical question: What scheme have you used GU72 in? I have a particular interest for this tube and shall be grateful for new information about it and its use.

Hello Andrew - and Welcome to diyAudio!!!! :D:D:D:

Russian tube amps - good things to play around with!! ;)

You might want to check out Zen Mod's baby diyAudio site for people on the other side of big water = DIY Audio Forum

Here, in Russia, we have a site with the similar name =Ãëàâíàÿ - DiyAudio.ru - Âñå äëÿ ïàÿëüùèêîâ è öåíèòåëåé çâóêà: ñõåìû, ñòàòüè, ïå÷àòíûå ïëàòû, êîíñóëüòàöèè, ôîðóì.. It is the site where you can meet people from this forum. By the way, I would like to say hello to Wavebourn if he happens to read it.

Well you can check audio portal regarding the matter as I mentioned in my previous post Óñèëèòåëü íà ÃÓ72 - Ôîðóìû ÀÓÄÈÎ ÏÎÐÒÀË

Personally I am OK with ultralinear PP EL84, EL34 or KT88. It is a solid well established engineering approach favored by some most regarded manufactures like Cary, Conrad Jhonson, Dynaco, Manley, McIntosh, Rogue Audio. And I do believe the most recent tube amp from Esoteric is an ultra linear PP too.

Double that. I was lived in Saratov where Sovtek and Electro Harmonics tubes are produced. No tubes at local market at all.

I've heard Reflector had stopped audio tubes manufacturing few years ago completely. Svetlana is not making audio tubes anymore too.

Tesla is out of audio tube's production as well JJ is a new dedicated manufacture basically.

So I am making research towards Solid State power amps nowadays :)

Last time I asked my friend in Piter to get some tubes he said it is impossible, no direct sales from factory.
