New project guitar amplifier.

Working on a guitar amplifier project.
Has a mosfet 100WRMS power amplifier stage.
On the front end it has a gain stage, valve type distortion module, tone controls and echo module.
Has 7 potentiometers for controls. Two switches for distortion and echo on/off.
Will be interesting see what it sounds like.
Waiting for pcb from China.

Looks nice, keep us updated.

Have you built a sample (protoboard/perfboard) first or just simulated it?

This kind of designs tends to be iterative, meaning you design - build - test - correct - redesign/tweak -etc. , maybe you´re lucky and hit the jackpot en first try :)

Post build pictures and when possible, sound samples :)

PS: could read the Power Amp without big trouble but old worn eyes had difficulty with preamp image, do you have more detailed/larger one?
Say 2X larger.

Have you built a cabinet for it or you still keep your old FANEs?

PT2399 is designed for al-cheapo karaoke machines. The delay range is restricted and sound quality degrades audibly with longer delays of several 100ms. I made a PCB for it several years ago and found the outcome disappointing. There is not much to expect from a device that costs about 1€.

Ouch!!!!

That said, pots being 16mm diameter, drilling holes 15mm away from one panel edge should stand like a sore thumb as "WAY too close", measurements be d*mned.

At least, weird enough to make you think "wtf? is this right?"

Please keepus informed, showsomepicturs, etc.; this WILL end well.

Have you already thought about the head case/cabinet?

They are just small pots and dont fit by about 2mm !
But they would short on panel bend.
I did notice the front panel was a very tight fit in the rack case.
I looked up one a little smaller on ebay so will use that.
SO maybe not such a disaster to lose the current one.

I am using a 4u 19 inch rack case. Cheapest option at £30. The sky's the limit for a nice case. Will fit a fan and vent to get good airflow.

Progressing slowly waiting for parts to come in.
Bolted volume controls to front panel and soldered them into pcb.
Messed up with distortion and echo switches and bought none latching ones.
Amp didnt work first time had 45 V on output !
Missed putting in R30 22k input resistor.
Works ok now with an mp3 player. Sounds good and clean.
DC offset and bias setup.
Bought a vented back panel so I can use a fan with it.
case is huge, could have got away with 3U high and about 2/3 depth.
Will find a smaller case next time.

Looking good :)

Will look even better with labelled controls; don´t forget to order a large Logo too.

What brand/model will it sport?

Or you could order a large full panel size gold or silver sticky sheet

or in many flat colours:

Order a few large logos too, to apply on matching cabinets.

Whenever possible, upload some sound samples :)
