I can assure you beyond any possible doubt, every transformer you ever encountered has laminations that are electrically insulated from each other.
Unfortunately you're 100% wrong - for one thing, the transformers in this article disprove you to start with.
However, pretty well every home has a transformer that doesn't have insulated laminations, in a microwave oven - the laminations are welded together, similar to the Peavey ones here.
