For info, the specs of that transformer are:

Primary 240V @ 165mA
Secondary:
660Vct @ 138mA
6.3v @ 3A
5v @ 3A

==========
Heater currents:
6V6GT = 450mA
6SL7GT = 300mA
6J7 (or 6SJ7) = 300mA

5Y3GT = 2A
==========

So it seems it should be fine running a push-pull 6V6 pair with 6SL7GT and 6J7 (Or 6SJ7) preamp.

@ avtech23 - fire away, useful info for me too. I've been looking at the 290BEX as well.
also
The ClassicTone 40-18041 Power, 40W, 120V 022723, 125P26A. 041316
seems to be a size fit for mine. From the '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue. More power than I need but hey ....

Can never have too much power!

I wonder if you'd be able to give me the dimensions for the amp chassis? - I won't be able to pick mine up for another week but want to start looking at designing it's new home in the meantime.

I've worked out my unit is probably a 621 so not quite the same as yours.
EF37A, ECC35, 5Z4, 3 x 6V6

110 w; 52mm h (145mm inc tx); 290mm l;

Thanks for the dimensions. The chassis appear to be similar between them (looking at photos) so that gives me a good start.

Default How did you go?

HI guys,

How did you get on with this? I'm in Sydney and have a 601 coming and a 621 sitting there waiting.... On my 621, the length between bolts is 3 1/4 inch not 3 1/8. Yours? Also interested in what you're attempting with the conversion. I'm going to mod the stock circuit before I consider gutting and repurposing.

Cheers

Default Dimensions for Transformer bolts I meant!

Those dimensions I quoted were for bolt spacing of the 621 vs the 290BEX...
