electro voice mixer

hi I just picked up an older EV 12 channel mixer and It would be really nice if I could put a mute switch on each channel. What would be the best way to go about this without getting any pops when un-muting? thanks anyone

Be really helpful if you could identify the mixer so we might look at a schematic.

Does it have phantom, and if so do you use phantom?

I would put it below the Pan pot left of the LED.

Thanks for the info. would I be using a spst push on push off or something else. would this create a pop when turned on. I'm not quite sure where I would wire it in the circuit.Thanks

I would put it after the fader. You get a pop when you have a sudden change in level, namely switching when the signal is not done at zero crossing. You need to reduce the speed of the level shift so using the fader's resistance helps.

Mind you it is almost impossible to get silent switching with mechanical switches, usually it is done through electronic means.

Thanks for the input but I think this is not going to work for me, I guess I will look around for other board schematics and see if they do it some other way. the behringer I was using was quiet when muting.
