Tim was born and raised in Nigeria, schooled (college) in England, and had his early adult years in South Africa. He had to learn to build EVERYTHING in the audio chain from recording (including mics), mastering, cutting vintyl, to playback; and out of necessity and little budget. He is the pinnacle of DIY Audio. He modified analog pro tape machines (ATR and Studer) capable of digital levels of signal-to-noise ratio, and bandwidth in excess of 8Hz to 80,000Hz, which are used by some of the best vinyl mastering, as well as recording groups and studios.

Tim De Paravicini, (1945–2020) - The Absolute Sound

From a Great Friend and recording engineer / principle of Water Lily Acoustics, posted with his permission:

"A Doge from Venice, Baron Paravacello has sailed into a grand sun rise, in the Land of the Rising Sun... Whence he had gone, from a childhood spent in the West African Kingdom of Edo, via the Cape, to that land where the Edo Shogunate once ruled... To illumine those at Lux... Later, settled in Cambridge, whither had gone his predecessor, in matters of the mind and the laws of nature: Francis Bacon. There, the Doge, following in the footsteps of that beacon, who went before him, began evolving his empirical quest...
Ever the impartial judge, the Doge charted the passage of electron flow, through the vacuum of space, as well as through silicon substrates, while the lesser merchants of Venice, mapped the mundane course of their trading ships, laidan with cargo, to which men and mice lay claim and which rust doth rot... The Doge, being no merchant, but an explorer, thus
sailed his ship, from the Adriatic into the Mediterranean and thence to the Black Sea, like Jason before him, daring pirates and the Navy of the Pasha... Seeking neither silk nor pearls, but rather the intangible esoteric wisdom of the spheres... I knew him well and drank deep at his well... A man and a mind, the likes of which, we will never again see, in the land of sound ideas and ideals... He was a man cut from the same cloth as Nepolean, to whom he was distently related and like whom, he had a firm resolve and determination and the desire to meshure and master the unknown... The world of audio was his Egypt... The honor is indeed mine, to have walked in his shadow... Till we meet again on the banks of MA Ganga... I bow to the Doge Baron Paravacello..."
