cleaning boards

gaborbela use a stiff tooth brush with the alcohol and "scrub" the flux.
Then wash off the residue with clean alcohol and dry with a clean cloth.
Try not to get the alcohol under the electrolytics or into the trim pots.
You might need to do this a few times.

I usually solder the resistors and quick connects first and then thoroughly clean my boards. After that I solder the caps and transistors.

Hope that helps.

Finished the boards and cleaned up the power supply. It’s dead quiet. So much so that I wouldn’t even know the amp was on. While playing music, it almost seems like something is missing but in reality it is not. I can hear the details and separation of the voices and instruments. The bass is tight and makes the Tang Bands W8s have a fuller sound. I will report more of my impressions once I listen to it some more.

The amp itself uses two SMPS600 from Cresnet (I highly recommend) along with an addition cap bank per SMPS. For the input, I’m using XLRs converted to single ended by Cinemags 15/15b transformers.

Hi !

Where did you get this nice enclosure from, can't read the brand
Thanks, very nice work

JM

Harry, the extra capacitors are Mundorf Mlytic AG 4700uf.

Shaan, yes all the wiring is underneath the boards as well as the subchassis. Thank you for the wonderful amp and support!

JM, the enclosure is based on a Pioneer home theatre receiver. I made the subchassis to mount the heat sinks as well as the front and rear fascia. The subchassis also hides the wires. The front faceplate was made to match the Integra receiver. It has lettering I made; however, it says the old amplifier modules I had in there.

Hi Delange.

PCBs have been shipped from the fab already and will reach me in a few days.

The v4h has two zobel networks at the output. The two 10R+100nF segments.

Thank you for the update on the PCB's.

In regards to the zobel network, I don't know how I missed that one... :)
What about an inductor in parallel with a resistor; isn't that required at the output?
