Some photos of Ian's board installed in a Denon DN-C110 rack mounting CD player. It matches my Self/Huff preamp and Dac 1U cases.

Its nothing special as a Cd player (uses a PCM 1791 dac) but makes a superb transport. It's all steel construction, detachable rack frame, sturdy Sanyo mechanism and controls that have a great feel made it a bargain at £35 delivered (from Ebay)

I could probably have squeezed the dac inside it as well, but I am building three balanced dacs. A dual TDA1541, a dual AD1865 and a quad AD1862 (mono dac) to do some comparisons.

The pcm signals are transmitted over a 50cm cat5e stp cable to the dacs.

Ian, what is the fan-out of the pcm outputs? I was thinking of connecting all three dacs pcm inputs together. The outputs have been checked with my scope are clean though that was with no load.

Your project looks very nice. You are the first one doing it this way. Very smart!

The PCM board was designed capable for driving mono block DACs. So, there will be no problem. But need to make sure cables are in same length.

LVDS can be a better option tor transfer signals in distance more than 20cm. I'll have a pair of HDMI boards (transmitter and receiver) for this kind of application soon.

You can also place a FIFO before the PCM board to improve sound quality.

Will your HDMI tx/rx have panel mounting connectors fitted, and PH2 for the TX input and RX output?

I will read up about your fifo as it will probably be a future upgrade when I have decided which dac(s) I prefer. (I will be using Sowter 9545 balanced dac I/V transformers, probably with a 4pole 3way switch for easy selection of the dac)

problem with i2s to pcm

Hi

It has stopped working, fifo reclocker and dualxo work correctly, but the led i2s does not turn on. When done some tests the led was turned on when the i2stopcm was turned on (the dac) but immediately the led i2s was turned off, now it does not turn on anymore. I think he died. Any idea what I can do?
Ian, is it possible to buy an i2stopcm?
Can someone sell me one?
