Anything Beyond The Bicor 20 for the Lowther DX55?

I don’t understand. The Alerion was a well regarded cabinet for your smaller Lowther, and the plans were posted above. Why don’t you just try it? Perhaps in cheap wood first to get an idea. You could glue together a pair of cabs for say $50 using the cheapest panels you can find. Then you can always resell the dx55. It should be a decent speaker.

True, the Alerion is a well-regraded enclosure, and Jon did us a big favor by releasing the plans. My aims in audio have recently shifted.

An issue is the kind of bass such a driver can produce. I recently added a new component to my system, and its addition has caused me to reassess my preference in speakers. The Lowthers don’t fit that. This has happened very quickly and very unexpectedly.

I might be hanging out in the Multi-Way Forum from now on! I’ll visit, I promise!

You could add a subwoofer. I wouldn t give up yet. You will take a huge loss on selling those lowthers hence spending $50 and a weekend of diy seems like a sensible effort to me.

I appreciate your encouragement, but I’ve changed my direction. Some tweaking & exposure to different music genres have brought me here.

I bought the drivers through eBay, and I expect to turn them around fairly quickly.
