Re the reflex pipe - don't forget we're only interested in the internal size. An alternative is to laminate pieces of wood together to the correct length and use a suitable bit to make a hole through them. Make sure the hole is smooth (perhaps give it a coat of varnish) and take into account the volume of the block of wood.

The BBC have been running experiments with surround and broadcast the last couple of Proms in surround via their online feed using four loudspeakers.
