In addition to looking sloppy I find it'd be really hard for most people to believe in a design that is not popular, not reviewed by specialists, basically not known. While still claiming to be second to none.

I'd pay $500 for a pair of Frugel-horns that are at least well known in the DIY realm. Same thing for an assembled Overnight Sensations or other well regarded open-source designs. I'd pay that much if the cabinets were really well made and looked better than what I (or my 5yo niece in this case) could do in my garage too.

She does her own driver EnAble-Ing now, got a license from the patent holder to do something unique. I am considering having her do a set of FE126, but process cost is $200.

There it is, and Dave probably knows better and can correct me. Anyway it'd be her choice if she is paying the patent holder. It sounds sketchy to hear that affirmation though. Patent has expired 8 years ago:

A point to keep in mind is that EnABL itself has not remained constant; for e.g. what Dave does is a considerable step forward in approach from what was described in the patent and the application varies according to a particular driver's resonant modes rather than being generic.

since hornresp now can do volume "steps", it might be interesting to approximate what happens. Fibhorn 3 has the same external bulk (~4.3 cubic feet) as a Fostex BK20 BLH and probably similar internal airspace. Fibhorn 3 appears to have an exit around an 8 inch driver's Sd. There's only so much which can be done for a given bulk-driver combo Do the chamber volumes step down ? up? Her cabinets should be pretty rigid with 0.5" MDF internal panels.

Anyone got a picture of her EnABL job?

EnABL has gone thru a process… we are now into EnABL2 with a number of tricks beyond what is in the patent.

I paid Bud a lifetime royalty just before the patent expired. No royalties are due any longer, and there never were any outside the USA. Any payments to Bud would be in appreciation of what he has given us.

Note to runievil: I EnABL FE126 for $130, but getting them here and back will likely cost more.

It is much more important on the driver.
