Seems like it's the season for Sachiko builds. Mine are done too.
The Fostex FE206E drivers have just a couple of hours on them, but these
sound pretty good.
Many thanks to the Scott of Big Horns (moose) and Dave for an excellent design.

I built them with marine ply, and finished them with a walnut stained
polish and a couple of coats of clear polyurethane.

I am using an old Koss DVD players as a source and the amp is a
LM3886 Mauro Penasa design from the recent group buy. I also
have a Dynaco ST70 clone and both amps sound great.

Right now, there is no stuffing at all in the driver chamber.
I waiting for the drivers to get broken in, so I can tweak the amount of stuffing.

Here is the photo build log.

sachikos were a real kick to listen to and gave a big stupid grin to every person there when a bass note issued forth through max's 211pp.

Thanks! I am happy that the speakers managed to do pretty
Ok on the WAF scale. So no worries on that front.

The drivers have about 25 hours on them and I think the bass has opened
up a bit already. For my listening, the bass is adequate, but I am
hoping I get deeper bass as the drivers are broken in some more.
At that stage, I also need to play with adding some stuffing into the chamber.
As far as vocals and stringed instruments go, these speakers are fantastic.

Dave, thanks for the pic. It is clear Scott thinks Sachikos are for
nearfield listening ! ;-)

Just to update that the speakers are really opening up. There is excellent bass
when using my VTA PP KT77 tube amp.
But my lm3886 Mauro MyRef amp dosen't do too well - the base is very feeble
and I stopped using it for any serious listening.

I also need to quickly rig up a protective grill for the drivers.
Updated the pics with quick-n-ugly grill -

quad,

you are very good to be able to cut so many panels accurately with a circular saw, I tried but couldn't get them edge square

I just built a th-spud clone sub and now I get the real bottom end :)

unfortunately I dont have room to have them off the walls
but either way this is pure effortless sound
