Default storing Pics ect.

Hi Jason,
If this is not the right place please move it to the right one,
In my surfing this site I find many good threads but no pictures or a bad link,IS there a way to store them on site so if the post is visible so are the attachments.

If they are bad links, that's due to the member and we have no control over it. Pics that are posted to the site will live on in eternity.

We have no control over externally linked pictures because they are held on an external hosting site of the posters choosing. As soon the user deletes the images, perhaps to free up space, or perhaps they delete their account with that hosting site, then all the content disappears.

So those images never make it to diyAudio proper, we are just a portal that enables them to be viewed as long as they remain where they originally were.

The only way to ensure they remain for good is for members to do as Cal mentions, which is for posters to attach them using the forums own upload facility. That ensures they are stored with diyAudio and forever linked to the post in question.

This is not a new issue, what Mooly says has happened right from the get-go. It's out of our control.
