Making a 2SA798 transistor.

Is it possible to make your own 2SA798 transistors out of 2 other transistors? I just looked and 2SA798 transistors are priced at $30 plus each!!!

I use a matched pair of 2N4403s glued together using thermal adhesive.
Very successful as they track perfectly with temperature changes.

Yay! That's what I wanted to hear! Thanks, Jon, Ill hunt some down and do that.

If you clamp them together ident to ident, (the flat front) hook one emitter wire around the other to produce a single wire for connecting. I like the 2N4403 because I don't have to worry about the pin out as it is printed on the front of the transistor. (Must be an age thing).

Make a note of the pin outs before tie wrapping and gluing them together.
I use TBS20S | Electrolube Epoxy Thermal Adhesive, 48 h Cure, 20 ml Syringe | RS Components
I am sure you will be able to source a similar product.

My local electronics shop only has PN200 to substitute for 2N4403. I wonder if they will do? They are T0-92, 45vce, IC 500ma, HFE Min/Max 80/600.

Sound good to me. Try and select the highest gain you can get.
