Pavel can perceive the difference on the 3 very low distortion preamps, however I do not find any of them to be poorly designed.

What does that have to do with results of DBT I mentioned?

It actually is good for you if you can not hear a difference, no incentive to spend on more expensive parts like the AD797. Better yet when you find a cheaper parts like the TL072 to sound the same. Too bad for those who do hear.

......, the subjective version is just that, no level matching, no visual bias controlled, no memory span compensation and no room mode accounted for. The level matched version was done by volt meter at the speaker terminal when amps were switched.

I took the two files and loaded them up in Audacity... I was not able to time align them well enough to get a null test showing me the difference. The tempo is off by a tiny bit and the files are different sizes... which might actually be what people heard.

I do not think so. They are time aligned with the only difference of different phase responses of the two preamps under test. However, it is their inherent characteristics and is not intended to be equalized by digital post process.

I also appreciate ws2. Impression made on a LS70 iem. WS1 is a bit harsh in treble and has less "body". I also feel WS2 has better details in treble area.
