Is this set worth something ?

Hello guys,

Sorry if I have posted on the wrong place.

I have inherited some audiophile (i think) equipment, that i dont know what to do with. I can give it away to some friend who might be interested or try selling it online, but before that i need to know if it is at any value at all. Most of it is Sony equipment.

So I have;

1) Sony INTEGRATED STEREO AMPLIFIER model TA-808M
2) Sony FM STEREO / FM-AM TUNER ST-707 RM
3) Sony STEREO CASSETTE DECK - TC-WR808M
4) Sony COMPACT DISK PLAYER - CDP-S107
5) Sony MINIDISK DECK - MDS - S38
6) Technics Stereo cassette deck - RS-TR373
7) Two Sony - APM 3000 speakers


I tried to google it, but didnt find any specific information and it is not something I am informed about, so i guess here is the best place to ask.

I think the Sony system in the attached photograph includes some of your components.

The Sony range which would be of most interest to audiophiles, and hence of greatest value, is the Sony ES Component range.

As a guide, here is a current auction listing for a Sony MDS-S39 MiniDisc player similar to your MDS-S38. Standing at £36 with 1 day to go, you could watch to see what it fetches.

Ultimately, I suspect that your equipment is worth what someone is willing to pay for it!

Wow, that Sony MDS-S39 went for £122! Maybe you're on to something after all! I suggest you start listing your items online. Set low starting prices to attract interest as did the seller of the above MiniDisc player/recorder. However, it is important to test each item first to confirm that it is in full working order.

If you want to google them, leave out the extra words. EG. "Sony TA808M" is enough, and add ebay at the end. SO I googled "Sony TA808M ebay" and found someone had sold one for $40 five years ago.

These items, some were sold as a system, note the main amp has a ribbon cable to the other components. The tuner gets its power from the main amp - note there is no power cord to the tuner. Some of the other units are stand alone parts.
