yeah you gotta remember i'm a digital neanderthal...

a lot of what i'm hearing is "zipper" noise (level shifting) but i also hear high pitched squealing (very low level) that modulates with video screen changes as well. i can't expect to hear low level audio distortion if the supply lines aren't happy, can i?

I heard the same complaint from members at our local forum, it was unrelated to the test signals, they just had this problem in general and usually audible when the music passage had low level. I have not experienced this problem, so I am not able to give an advice, other than I would download and use ASIO or WASAPI drivers for the soundcard, these drivers bypass Windows sound enhancements.

Okay took me together run the 16 trial test on nail/screw :)

Post 34 was a 3/8 over diy active speaker.

Post 69 was a 5/8 over HD650 cans.

New HD650 cans test below:

Agree it looks good and much better than expected, i changed my DSP correction profile for HD650 yesterday so they subjective sounds as a million maybe it helped also for these close ABX runs, that DSP is the reason Foobar report JRiver as a 24bit soundcard, will take one more 16 trial test run later to see if i just was lucky this time or what : )

New run late last night but still good result or is it some luck :) test is over DSP corrected HD650 cans and a pretty good Neurochrome HP amp although a wish in future is to upgrade DAC to some new 32bit stuff, where present one is ES9023 based.

Could you not download the zip file straight from the dropbox page without using dropbox? I've only listened so far on my chromebook and Grado headphones, I will try again tomorrow and listen through my stereo
I listened through my speakers and could hear the double thump again at 58s, probably a combination of knowing it was there and that I have damn good OB bass speakers ;)
