Since about 3 years ago I have a 12V fridge powered from my solar cells station, also powering my ham radio sets and lights. The thing 2 times lost the cooling gas (r134a) and last time I called a refrigeration skilled man, who said me that the leakage is in the aluminium evaporator (The white unit below). Thinking that it isn't too complex device, a piece of tubing creased and soldered to a board, and that a new unit may have the same problem because to join aluminium ans copper is very difficult although impossible, I asked to the pillows, and they gave an idea: to make it of my own. A really DIY copper evaporator. And here is the result.
