I have a Bk 707 that works pretty well. Planning on going through the calibration process this evening after installing a SS rectifier.
I have heard of a simple mod to better test 12AX7's and while its all opened up, I am trying to think of other modifications for more comprehensive testing.
I plan on adding an ammeter to the common cathode circuit to "match tubes" or more correctly, get a better sense of performance and compare sections of twin triodes.
(I say "more correctly" since matching isn't quite possible at a static point.)
Are there any adverse affects of simply adding an analog ammeter inline with the cathodes? Also what is a good current range with this tester?
Also, this may be more trouble than its worth, but a headphone noise test would be pretty cool.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated,
-Matt
