Which Loudspeaker for room measurements?

Hi,

well, soon I'll be moving to a new home, and for the first time I have the possibility to build a dedicated listening room.

It won't be a really large one, only around 18m², but most likely it will be close to some optimum room dimension, so that should be fine.

Now, I'm thinking of doing some serious room measurements and adding absorption and diffusion where needed, but I am not sure yet, which loudspeaker would be best suited for the room measurements?
An Omni? Or something highly directional? Or should I use small firecrackers?

Any hints?
