Most tube resellers and even manufacturers don’t extend warranty beyond 30 days. Just FYI you can get extended warranty on Sophia but for huge insane price. Anyways I have maxed out my budget allocation for EQ1616 and happy with its Sonics. Now on to my 8600s........I am going to add 2nd input and switch but that’s for another thread.

I know it all depends on my taste or what I prefer but I do like telefunken tubes in my amp. Has anyone tried telefunken or something similar in the V3 position in order to get the absolutely best from this unit? Is it much different than the brimer that victor sells?
Who prefers a 12AX7 over a 12AU7 in the V3 position or vise versa?
Has anyone tried telefunken 12AX7's in the V1 and V2 positions and was it much different than the golden lions?
I am playing with my brothers unit and he has done all of the upgraded parts offered to him. Are there any other upgrades or tweaks that others have found to be beneficial to this unit?

I have not tried an 12ax7 in v3 yet because generically it has a high mu factor and enhances any noise from circuit or vinyl but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try it. I just settled on psvane 12ax7 in v1 and v2 and cv4003 in v3. I also have a Picolla2 upstream from it so adding a high gain tube like an 12ax7 will throw it off. This phono preamp goes into Picolla2 then into 8600s and the combination works very well.
Again depends on your taste. Some like it warm,
I like my tea neutral with a hint of warmth, never stirred, nor bright.
