I always thought I was careful, this my 8th DIY project & never have i ever placed cap incorrectly, but...it happened this time!! The 2200uF caps got placed with incorrect polarity & then there were fireworks on one of the CAPS (C27) 
. 2 questions now...1) would I have fried anything else, possibly the 2940 IC?? but am not sure since it did, they are pretty rugged IC's 2) can this CAP be replaced with 1000uF 25V, well this is all I have at hand at the moment. The latching was still working fine even after the CAP busted, but I did not test further and powered down the pre, will progress once I replace the damaged part.
