Audio Component Grounding and Interconnection

This is incredible work, David, thank you.

However, I was unable to see any of the figures after the first three - meaning figures 2 and after are only small question mark icons that do not expand when I click them. Does anyone have suggestions on why I can't see them (I have tried multiple computers PC and Mac, multiple browsers (chrome, safari, firefox)? Alternatively, does anyone know where else these figures might be posted (or re-posted)?

Thanks

I think maybe that the links to the images have been broken in the server migration that happened late last year. For example, one of the images links to here:

fig2-1.png or https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/images/articles/grounding/fig2-1.png - this doesn't work.

However, the 2 images that do work are direct attachments to the post, url is formatted like this:

https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=703032&d=1536740877

This is such a useful post, it would be great to rescue these images if a backup from the previous forum software contents is available?

First, Dave, thank you for a great article, I have posted the link every time someone has posed a grounding question.
Second, I think help from the moderators is required here.
If the images can be restored then all is well.
As I say, I have the original article, I assume I must have copy/pasted post 1 into a word document.
I will repost it here as a pdf but that would mean in future it will end up in the middle of the thread where it might be difficult to find.
Also, are there any amendments since 2014 that might be lost?

Things are a little confusing.
If I select the articles tab at the foot of the webpage it takes me to an archived thread -
https://www.diyaudio.com/archive/articles/186018-what-gain-structure-next-thread.html

Where this thread is -
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...t-grounding-and-interconnection.163575/page-4

A different web address.

However, the images are missing from both.

Thank you Russc, this is great! I believe the moderators are working on restoring the original.

Excellent writeup. Would be great to fix some of the non-working links... thanks again!

Fellow audio enthusiasts,

From the posts on this forum and feedback from many of you, I know that the “Audio Component Grounding and Interconnection” article has been a valuable resource for many of your audio activities.

Although the subject material stands the test of time, links in the article are broken as their destinations are changed or eliminated. Over the years, I have periodically gone through the article looking for and repairing these broken links. There are no guarantees in the world of the Internet, and I suspect that the diyAudio forum may disappear someday and the article will no longer be available on the Internet.

Because of age and health issues, I am totally retired from audio activities in all aspects. I expect that at some point I will no longer be available to edit the article or provide it to interested enthusiasts. Thus, I am reaching out to seek your support: I want a few enthusiasts who are willing to (adopt, host,) the article. By this I mean to periodically (maybe once a year or so) go through the article and fix broken links, and then provide the article to other people who may be looking for it.

Please let me know if you are willing to step up.

Dave Davenport

Excellent article!

I would like to point out and emphasize that the safety ground - the green wire connected to the chassis and (hopefully) the actual earth way back somewhere only exists for one purpose: electrical safety. It is not for carrying signals, shunting noise or any other purpose - it is there to try to prevent shocks and to lessen the danger of fires and other dangers. Noise filtering methods should typically be referenced to the system common which is, as already pointed out, another thing entirely. The safety ground, from an electrical standpoint, is frequently a relatively high impedance antenna.
