Philips CD 160 convert to NOS

Got one of these little gems at the moment. Want to try NOS mode. It is the model with the separate logic board. I’ve followed the usual instructions for converting to NOS but I must be missing a trick and I suspect it’s to do with the logic board?

- pull the SAA7220 (or cut its power and leave in situ)
- connect pins 1,2,3 on SAA direct to pins 1,2,3 on TDA1541 (or jumper them across the SAA to pins 18,16,15 (respectively)

Killing the SAA7220 kills the system clock. One option is to leave the SAA7220 active and float the SAA7220 outputs and run the SAA7220 inputs to the dac.

Gotya. Thanks. Thought it was something like that. Will just lift the relevant pins and leave the rest intact

Thanks for all your help. Got it working.

- The SAA7220 stayed where it was.
- Tied the relevant pins direct from SAA7220 to TDA1541.
- Added wire to connect pin 23 of SAA7220 to pin 11 of SAA7210. Muting worked without needing to float the pin 11.
