Default ARCAM ALPHA CD 6

Hi All,

Anyone have a circuit for the DAC section of the Arcam Alpha CD 6 player. ?

Mine has no output from either channel.

Are there any common faults?

Andy

Andy, I don't know the specifics of this player, but I have been working on some similar vintage Philips/Maganvox players. Typical problems I've encountered have been related to old, out of spec, or leaky electrolytic caps.

Start with: does the deck power on? does the transport appear to work? can it read a disc TOC? Can it "play" a track (does it appear to read the track without skipping, if you can see track timing)?

Almost all the faults I've seen so far have involved caps in the servo circuit or power supply, so I'd start there.

Hifi Engine has a service manual: Arcam Alpha 6 - Manual - Stereo Integrated Amplifier - HiFi Engine

Sorry I can't be more help than that. I'm on the learning path myself.

Hi.

As I said , no sound out from either channel.
The cd plays perfectly.

So I'm guessing it's a fault with the DAC board.

Thanks

I did some signal tracing last night.

Although there is no output from the sockets, the dac is working as there is an audio signal at the output of the opamps (OP27).

So I assume that the output relay is not working.

Anyone have the service manual or diagram?
