Hi,
I'm at a crossroad of which way to pursue for upgrading my digital front end.
The plan was to tweak my vintage dac some more, but now I'm leaning towards trying out modifing my cdp instead. It uses a single PCM1798 chip. I thinking of transformercouple the output. Ivan's (bisesik) transformers looks tempting.
Now the PCM1798 have 4mA output and the PCM1794 have 7,8mA output.
As far as I can see the pins match each other. Would a swap be possible or even benefitial?

It's been at least 10 years but i have distinct memories of enjoying the 1794 a bit more.

Not sure what the voltage compliance level of these chips was, as this sets the maximum value of the current conversion resistor. I think this was in the DS but perhaps someone with more recent memories can help you more.
