[I hope i'm posting this in the right subforum ]
Right, so a neighbour's (pensioner) wife somehow ended up plugging a pair of Audio Technica noise-cancelling headphones, via one of those 2xmono airplane adapters, into the mains socket
Fortunately noone was hurt (save for the blackening of said mains socket), and most of the electronics inside this as well, apart from the CSR8645 inside - the battery input is pretty much shorted to ground; the battery itself is fine, though.
What i was wondering was, since it has an external flash chip, would it (need to) have a specific firmware in the internal ROM as well? Or could i just transplant a chip off one of these cheapo BT modules and be done with it?
FWIW, the noise-cancelling bit is done by a dedicated MAX9895A IC, and that seems to be fine.
