The DAC may be the PCM1738 in which case the data sheet for the chip will piece together the expected voltages and signals expected:

Check for obvious stuff first such as whether there is a mute facility... once muted it may remember the setting. Should be easy to identify any muting at the final analogue stages, whether relay or transistor based.
