quad 99 CDP: disc do not spin

I do believe the transport on my Quad 99 CDP (1st series, SN1650) is dead: the disc loads, the laser head tries to focus 3 times, but at no point in time the disc does spin: as if the motor was dead.

the laser LED seems to emit a signal(can see some red..).

How can I fully diagnose the issue, to define if the pick up is to be changed or if the full transport should be swapped?

well, I could find this CMD 12.4 in Ireland: I'll try a replacement, and worse case, I'll let the 30 euros go...

On this mech, the first thing to always check for is platter slippage, meaning that it's not unusual for the platter to slip down the motor shaft, causing wrong focus distance & often making the platter drag on the chassis.
