There doesn't seem to be a thread here for collecting & comparing test results for sound cards & other audio hardware, so I thought I'd start one. Maybe it should be permanent, if it proves popular.

To kick off, here are my results for a M-Audio Audiophile USB ADC/DAC unit. These were done using RMAA 5.2 from http://audio.rightmark.org/

Attached are the 16-bit 48Khz results.

...and the 24-bit 48Khz results.

For these tests, I looped the RCA outs straight back to the RCA ins; Rightmark complained that the input level was too low (-6dBFS or so), even with the output level control right up. It may well be, therefore, that you can get 6dB better noise floor if you get the input level high enough.

I also had problems doing a 16bit 44.1Khz run; not sure why, as it records & plays perfectly well with other programs on these settings.

Now to test the rest of my gear collection...

Cheers
IH
