Hi everyone,

I have a strange ticking noise from my shigaclone.
Can someone please tell me what this problem is?
Today I would listen to this player and notice this noise, before no problem.
Look at the video and listen to the noise ticking...

This looks to me like a noise from dac. Do you still get digital output stream and this noise is over-imposed ? Can you look with a scope at the spdif output ?

IOS is coming to Shiga and Quantum

A quite long journey, but finally IOS is coming to Shiga and Quantum. Iphone support only BLE (bluetooth low energy) and implementation of this was quite a challenge for us.

Tibi

Hi Tibi,
can you tell us more about the remote control? Price, installation, etc.

Bluetooth remote control (called Bluthor) is based on a module that was developed by us several years ago.
The module can be used with any CD player that have or not have remote control, adding bluetooth remote control feature.
The main idea behind Bluthor is that he make use of REED relays across any existing push-button to simulate button press.

There will be two modules. One for Android and one for IOS.
Applications are available for download from Quantum web-page.
Apple make use of smart BLE technology, therefore we had to use different bluetooth modules.

Installation on Shiga MKII is straight forward, as we have already designed Shiga MKII for Bluthor. If you look on main display board you'll see that under each push-button are two small holes. These are designed for Bluthor connection via wiring.

You may power Bluthor from same power supply as Shiga MKII. Bluthor have his own regulator and accept unregulated power in range of 8Vdc to 15Vdc.

On 1st December Bluthor price will be 59 euro. Afther that 79 euro.
Bluthor is already integrated in Quantum CDT and people love it.

Brgds,
Tibi

Shiga Black "Temporary" Home

Hello all

Sharing some pics of my Shiga Black "Temporary" enclosure. Inverted commas temporary because I know that temporary is likely to be a long-time ;) Its not perfect but then that gives me greater incentive to make the "permanent" enclosure. It could do with some sanding and a spot of varnish and a bit more tidying up but for now I'm going to leave it alone and finish some of my other projects.

The top is a two layer construction using faux slate for the laser cutout and then real slate for the disc cutout. There is more faux slate on the bottom to help with mass loading.

I can't remember where the box came from - possibly charity store find?

Jupiter Copper Foil Paper & Wax Cap in C8
NewClassD Neutron Clock and PSU
Vicol miniregs in V3 and V4
All the recommended mods to the laser
Cryo treated gold plated phono for output

Things left to do
- LT regs in V1 & V2 and add separate PSU
- change toroid to r-core
- LT regs in PSU

Cheers

Clayton

Hi Tibi and Dimitri,

Revering to thread #193, which of the two bastards should be replaced with what. Left 100nF Artronics Film PET and right 1nF Silver Mica? And did you crush the ceramics with a small plier like Dimitri suggested or did you desolder them. Which points did you use to solder the replacement parts?

Regards,
Robert

I desolder all ceramics.
Now my latest modifications implemented in Quantum/Shiga MKII high-grade are:
- over laser I use a combination of 1nF silver-mica + 100nF Vishay 1836
- for pin chip reference voltage I use 1nF silver-mica
- Vcc decoupling I use 100nF Vishay 1836
- over bias monitor potentiometer I use 1nF polystirene or silver-mica

Regards,
Tibi
