Hi George,
The older CDM12 pro ind. has a 'round' contact that soldered to the flex cable (that is attached to the servo board). It also has the TDA1302T part on the laser assembly.

The newer CDM12 Pro2 LF has a different contact and does not has the TDA1302T...I suspect the electrical contact or specification might not be the same.

Hi George,
If referring to the CD module (VAU1254, not the laser assembly); both the CDM12 Pro2 and the CDM12 Ind. is inter-changeable. The only thing to take care of is the ground connection. The CDM12 Ind. CD module has a common ground connection on the servo board for its +5V and +9V supply, whereas the CDM12 Pro2 is not and has to be connected; preferably at the PSU board.

Hi George,
You're most welcome.

The listing does not contain the actual picture of the product; hence, can't figure out if it's the laser assembly only or the whole mech....sorry.

If you're looking for just the laser assembly for the CDM12 Ind...Please check out the below..

New Laser Lens CDM-12.4 / VAM-1204 For Philips DVD Optical Practical Sell Well | eBay

New 1PCS CDM-12.4 CDM12.4CD VAM1204 For Philips Laser Driver Lens Replacement | eBay

Basically the CDM12.4 laser assembly will work with the CDM12 Ind. if replacing just the laser assembly. You might want to verify the picture against the actual part you intend to replace just to be sure.

He says it the Laser only, no mech, made by Rodenstock Germany for Phillips?
It could be as you said and I also think just a CMD 12.4 laser, but keeps it quiet for max profits.

Cheers George
