Just for fun I tested the old regulated PS I built years ago.
Used a 6-0-6V/ ?VA EI.

This says nothing about noise etc, I know.

Why would one need a current limiter?

What are the values in ()?

Values of R are ondrawing. 7220 draws about 200mA.

A current limiter is to reduce power consumption on the shunt schematic, and to be safer.

Was wondering about the ones that have one value ie 100 followed by (475), 100(470) as an example.

100 is for the saa7220 and 7210

The higher value Resistors between () and small transistor are for smaller digital chips, eg: memory, dividers

Got some veroboards for regulators(and other stuff I might want to build) and 8pcs goldplated DIP8 sockets(for swapping opamps) today

In you guys opinion, is OPA2134 better then NE5532(original opamp) or should I wait and order LM4562's? Just wondering if the LM4562 is that much better then the OPA2134 I've got at home already?
I've just put a LM4562 in my Lehmann BCL clone, and this is my first experience with this opamp.
It's not nearly settled yet, so I can't say how it compares to the stock NE5532.




As for regulator to the SAA7220, I'm thinking of going with the tracking preregulator, that's got to be an improvement to stock and seems easy enough to asseble on veroboard.

If I use a regulated ps that gives 15Vdc(from a 2x120Vac ,with primaries in series, 2x15Vac 10VA PCB transformer)
Use this schematic with an ELNA Cerafine 22uF for C2, didn't use C1, regulator fed from 2200uF Nichicon MUSE (get 25Vdc unloaded across this cap?!?)
Rectifying done by 1N4007, one rectifier per secondary so I can feed two regulator boards from this regulated PSU.
If this is a crappy idea, let me know and I'll go a different route.


For SAA7220 I was thinking this fed by the above PS.


I've also got 3 other transformers:
12-0-12Vac/1500mA
12-0-12Vac/500mA
6-0-6Vac/? mA, but it's a bit heavier then the 12Vac transformers.

Again, sorry if I'm asking for the ? time on any of this, or if I'm assault posting.
