Luxman has launched a budget DAC (DA-100 retailed at $780) based on Texa's PCM5012 chip.

In PMC5102 datasheet is written that it has an "integrated 2,1Vrms driver" and there's no need of coupling capacitors. ESS launched a similar chip, the ES9023.

The abovementioned retail price for a Luxman product is surprisingly low. I reckon it was possible due to cheaper implementation cost of PCM5102 over traditional DACs.What is the real advantage of this type of DAC? I mean, in a DAC design, where it's possible to cut cost by adopting DACs with integrated driver?
