I have just acquired a Technics SL-PG340 CDP. It does not have a digital output.
Looking at the service manual, it has a Panasonic MN66271RA all-in-one chip in it. Datasheet here: MN66271RA datasheet - Signal Processing Lsi For CD Players
The datasheet indicates that an EIAJ digital audio interface is available at pin 6.
Unfortunately, neither the datasheet not the service manual provide any suggestion as to what the full circuit should look like. I assume I need to connect the output to pin 6 and the shield to pin 5 (digital ground). Is anything else needed, such as padding resistors and/or coupling cap? TIA

The logic gates are already inside the MN chip, all you need is 2 resistors and capacitor.
If it works, you might want to add a transformer too.
