Hi all!

I've been using a S.M.S.L. Sanskrit Pro DAC (non-bt version) since 2016.

The unit was driven almost entirely from a DIY squeezebox device, over USB and fed analog stereo into a Cambridge Audio amp. I have been very pleased with the sound, although lack of homework before I bought it meant that it could not be used for DSD material from the linux-based squeezebox (not a big problem).

This weekend, the C-Media USB interface died, so I need a replacement.

I'm looking for something for about the same price (around €150), offering as good as or better sound and this time with a XMOS-based USB interface, allowing native DSD from Linux.

I'm considering a Topping D50, which promises good value for money, but can't find any direct comparisons. The reviews I have read of the D50 are good, with a small caveat regarding SMPTE intermodulation distortion.

Can anyone say whether the D50 is a safe bet or suggest alternatives?
