Outputstage for a tda1541 dac?

Hello all,

I build a dac with a tda1541 chip a few years ago.
I did use a tube output stage, but the sound was never that good and i was never that pleased with highvolt for the tubes in the dac.

So, my question. What do you use as output from a tda1541 chip?

As a DIYA member since 2007 you are not aware there are very many threads about this topic already? This kind of question is lazy and disrespectful of the time that people put into contributing to this forum - DYOR

Do some fault findig. A tube output for a DAC can be very good - but the secret is in the details.

I'm not using TDA1541 but ISTM the best sounding output stage for a DAC is a step-up transformer. I've come to this conclusion based on listening to many kinds of I/V stage over many years. You might find that a single TDA doesn't give you enough current though, be prepared to parallel a few.
