Again, not saying that we can't use our ears because sometimes it's all we have. I had to use my ears to decide how much of the 6khz peak to attenuate for HD800, and I settled on -4.25db without the SDR mod - it sounded more real than -4.20db and -4.30db. Couldn't really tell using the music I actually listen to due to the large variation in recordings and individual instruments, but the "s" sound in human voice in DTS tracks gave me some hints. Not saying that it's perfect or even close to correct, but since I had to make a choice, it's good to feel confident about what I'm hearing.
