some help implementing compressor on minidsp

Hi guys,

I'm using the 2x4ADV plugin to drive two woofers, a mid and a tweeter. The woofers are dayton PA310, mounted in an open baffle.
With the help of some heavy EQ, I'm definitely able to get sufficient bass output for the tunes I listen to, but, even at normal volumes, this comes at the price of significant excursion.

I'd like to implement the compressor function, to protect the woofers from over excursion at higher volumes, but I have no idea how to do it. The minidsp site is of no help.

Surely some people here are familiar enough with this function to help me out a bit?

The current version of the 2X4 Advanced plugin has the compressor built in. Note that this is for the standard 2 X 4 miniDSP, not the HD version. Also note there is a 2 way Advanced plugin that doesn't have the compressor function.

I've got a basic setting just by ear, threshold and ratio. What I need are definitions for "attack, hold, and release time" in the compressor context.

Have you tried just enabling the HP crossover filter in your woofer path?
