Default Cheaper high pass filter than miniDSP 2x4?

Hi,

I need to add a high pass filter to my diy sub because it's making funny noises due to over excursion. I've had the sub for two years and have finally took the time to look closer at the graphs on WinISD and I found that a high pass filter with certain parameters will do the trick. Question is, is there a cheaper way to do it other than buying a miniDSP 2x4?

Thanks.

Something like this perhaps:1 Harrison Labs FMOD 30Hz Hi Pass Subsonic Filter Rumble Reducer RCA USA 796152451707 | eBay

Or find a record player rumble filter circuit and build something similar.

I do believe however that DSP based filtering is the way forward for many reasons, mainly the ability to tweak the frequency and Q for the equipment and space at hand.
